Day 1: Merzouga Village to Erg Chebbi Desert Camp
Your 3 day camel trek Morocco expedition begins in Merzouga. After meeting your guide and securely storing your heavy luggage, you mount your camel for an afternoon ride into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes. The rhythmic crunch of sand beneath camel hooves surrounds you as we trek for about 2 hours. We stop to witness a brilliant sunset over the dunes before arriving at your desert camp. Enjoy the aroma of open-fire tagines during a traditional Berber dinner, followed by local music under the stars.
Day 2: Deep Desert Trekking & Nomad Families
Wake up early to catch the crisp desert air at dawn and a spectacular Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, we embark on a deep desert trekking adventure (by camel or walking alongside) toward a remote desert oasis. Today we cover roughly 10 kilometers. We will visit indigenous nomad families living in hand-woven wool tents, sharing mint tea and learning about their enduring culture. After a freshly prepared picnic lunch in the shade of a tamarisk tree, we head to our second night's wild or private camp for dinner and stargazing.
Day 3: Final Sunrise and Return to Merzouga
Your final morning starts with one last glorious sunrise over the highest dunes. Following breakfast, you begin your morning trek back across the dunes toward Merzouga. The camel ride takes approximately 2 hours.
